Assessment of the tourist development of castles in the Małopolska province in the tourists opinion

The aim of the author was to assess the tourist development of castles in the Małopolska province in the tourists opinion. It begins with a presentation of basic concepts related to tourism development in relation to castles, next – the results of a survey conducted in September 2024 using an online form. The elements of tourism development that are most and least important to tourists visiting castles were identified. Access to restrooms, transportation, and information facilities are considered the most important, while the post office, conference rooms, and accommodation were considered did not matter. Respondents have chosen the Wawel Royal Castle as having the best tourist development. The castles of Czorsztyn, Ojców, Pieskowa Skała at Sułoszowa, and Dunajec in Niedzica also have received very good ratings. The development of the remaining castles varies – some elements requiring improvement, while others are excellent.
