Sentimental tourism of the Polish minority of Chicago Area in Lessser Poland and Subcarpathian Region

In the USA live about 10 million people of Polish descent or Polish nationality. In this group has developed specific type of tourism - the sentimental one, which is visiting places related to their families. This article is a summary of the author’s thesis: Sentimental tourism of the Polish minority of Chicago Area in Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Region, presented in 2022 in Institute of Geography of the Pedagogical University in Krakow. The purpose of this article is to show phenomenon of sentimental tourism of Polish minority, especially in the example of Poles from Chicago Area, visiting South-Eastern Poland. Data were collected by survey, sent across Poles and people of Polish descent, living in Chicago. Results confirm fact that Polish minority is interest in its origins, searching for ancestors and maintaining traditions and bonds with their family land. Most of Chicago’ Poles know their roots, which gaves them sense of identity in multicultural society.
