Nowadays, problems related to a particular place are gaining more and more popularity among researchers. Paradoxically, the atomization of a state’s territory allows for a better understanding of the complex structures that state creates. It is in this respect that the local nature of the
processes taking place is today a reference point for a broadly understood discussion about the values of a place (town). The article presents the process of restoring historical memory in a small town in Ukraine and the impact of this memory on the town’s tourist attractiveness. The author refers to the results of research carried out in Slavuta and analyzes selected historical periods - their importance for the tourist attractiveness of the town. It also indicates proposed activities aimed at preparing an effective strategy aimed at promoting the town externally. The article is part of a broader scientific discussion on the tourist attractiveness of small Ukrainian towns, which has been successfully taking place in Ukraine since 2015.
